Today is a day that many Americans, including myself, won't ever forget. 10 years ago, At 8:46 a.m., five hijackers crashed American Airlines Flight 11 into the World Trade Center's North Tower and at 9:03 a.m. another five hijackers crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower. The ending result was unimaginable and beyond tragic.
I remember that day in high school when I first heard the news. I was in my physics class when the teacher next door came over and told everyone that "two planes just crashed into the World Trade Towers." As immature and oblivious to the situation than everyone else was as teenagers, we were shocked but more concerned with how two planes could bring down two humongous towers. I can only remember the arguments that followed.
It wasn't until I got home and turned on the T.V. to see what was really going on. Along with American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 doing their damage, American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon, and in an attempt to overtake the hijackers, United Airlines Flight 93 ended up crashing into a field in Shanksville, PA.
What bothered me the most about this was that it seemed that everyone was focused on the towers more than ever, as if they were the only thing destroyed in this terrorist plot. With the media putting more effort into showing the chaos of the days events in New York, very few cared about the Pentagon, or the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. which leads me to a small point.
What about them?
The last I checked, everybody died either willingly, afraid or trying, and one plane did succeed in missing it's target seeing that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi bin al-Shibh intended for Flight 93 to crash into the State Capitol. But would it have mattered even then? When news outlets ran down the list of those who didn't survive, were we equally concerned for everyone? I mean EVERYONE!!! The television tells us our vision so you be the judge.
And what about the D.C. Fire & Police Dep., or the Shanksville Fire & Police? They didn't do their jobs either? or is it becuase the casualities weren't as bad as the World Trade Towers falling?
This is not to deny the horror of September 11 for those who lost a loved one from the World Trade Center attacks, but I'd like to think that everyone paid a price.
It's 10 years later and the imagery continues to haunt us, or the media for that matter. Nevermind that in August 2006, the winning design was chosen for a stunning National September 11 Memorial & Museum and progress was being made in rebuilding the World Trade Center.
And then came 2011, May 2nd to be exact. Our current President, Barack Hussein Obama, after dealing with the racist scandal over his real place of birth (Hawaii) and a **** birth certificate, he orders the execution of that villain we all know as Osama Bin Laden.
It shuts everybody up including a red-necked Donald Trump during the Correspondent's dinner (LOL)!!!!!
But bump all that, let's forget about progress, theres no such thing. 10 years ago on September 11th, people were killed, innocent lives were lost, nothing rose from the ashes and Stevie Wonder & Take 6 never gave us hope.
I'm jus sayin what about progress?
